Beacon Invicta Youth Project is committed to keeping every child and young person safe.
All our volunteers complete safeguarding training and have Enhanced DBS checks, including a check of the Children’s Barred List. We have policies and procedures explaining how we prevent harm and respond to concerns.
You can read our full Safeguarding Policy here
You have the right to feel safe and be treated with respect while you are with Beacon.
If something is worrying you, or somebody has hurt you, frightened you or made you feel uncomfortable, you can tell:
Matthew, our Designated Safeguarding Lead;
Sarah, our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead;
any Beacon volunteer you trust; or
another trusted adult, such as a parent, carer, teacher or social worker.
You will not be in trouble for telling us, and we will listen and take you seriously.
We cannot always keep what you tell us secret. If we think you or another child may be at risk, we may need to share the information with people who can help. We will explain what is happening whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
You can contact Beacon about a safeguarding concern at dsl@beaconinvicta.org.
You can also contact Childline free on 0800 1111 or speak to a counsellor online. Childline is available at any time. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
If you are concerned about the safety or welfare of a child or young person involved with Beacon, please contact our safeguarding team:
Designated Safeguarding Lead: Matthew Johnson, Project Lead
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Sarah
Email: dsl@beaconinvicta.org
We will listen to your concern, make an appropriate record and follow our safeguarding procedures. Information will only be shared with those who need it to protect or support a child. We may have to share a concern without consent where this is necessary to safeguard a child.
Adults who are worried about a child can also contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 or at help@nspcc.org.uk
